Sometimes judges choose to mete out punishments that go beyond fine or prison time. Recently Hawaii judge ordered a 30 year old defendant to write 144 nice things about his girl friend.
Judge Rhonda Loo reportedly ordered Daren Young to write 144 compliments about his ex-girlfriend, in response to the 144 ‘nasty’ text messages and calls that he is accused of sending her. This ex boyfriend had reportedly attempted to call and text his ex-partner 144 times over a three-hour period on 22 May. Actually he was ordered in February to stop contacting his ex girl friend. For violating that protective order judge Loo handed out the unconventional punishment. ‘For every nasty thing you said about her, you are going to say a nice thing’ said Loo. As well as the 144 compliments, which he aptly has 144 days to write… Loo also sentenced the man to two years of probation, 2,400 dollars fine and 200 hours of community service.
